In 2018, the shooting in YouTube HQ brought the attention of media to the life of a video artist who was behind the act. Nasim Aghdam, a media activist made hundreds of videos solely in her bedroom in front of a blue painted wall. She believed that YouTube was demonetizing her videos and this attack would be the only way to express her frustration toward YouTube censorship. This video installation inspired by her story, aims to understand the ever shifting line between the online and the real worlds. The installation is based on Nasim's bedroom floor plan, that all the furniture is removed and what is left is marks on the floor and carpet. On one of the walls a projection of Nasim's videos is played with my mouth overlaid on hers reading letters I wrote to her.
